ETCS for passenger and freight vehicles.

In Switzerland, SBB have already equipped or retrofitted several hundred rail vehicles of various classes with ETCS.

Interoperability presents a major challenge in these rolling stock projects: vehicle and trackside equipment from different manufacturers has to be fully compatible so that it can operate without restriction on the various routes. For rolling stock used on cross-border services, the diverse operational requirements of different countries must also be harmonised.

In addition to SBB rolling stock projects, we have been entrusted by a range of operators (including BLS, Cisalpino and DB) with contracts to upgrade or retrofit their rolling stock to ETCS standards.
